In a remarkable show of arrogance, Apple Computer Inc. have demanded that Australia’s largest supermarket chain – Woolworths – drop their new logo because it looks too much like the Apple logo. Apple is reportedly concerned that the supermarket chain may wish to place its logo on own-brand electronic equipment, which would be sold in direct competition to iPhones, iPods and Apple computers. OH COME ON!!!
Apple, which declined to comment on the case, is known for taking an aggressive approach to trademark protection. It was involved in a long-running legal dispute with Apple Corps, the company set up by The Beatles to managed their interests, over the use of the Apple name. That conflict was not resolved until 2007, and the souring of relations contributed to the band’s decision not release its back catalogue over iTunes. The Australian supermarket Woolworths has no business connection to the failed UK retail chain of the same name, or any another Woolworths group outside of Australasia.
Now, I’ve never been a huge fan of Apple; and its not the products that sours my opinion of the company, it’s their attitude over the Apple brand and the elitism that surrounds it. Fair enough, the new logo looks slightly like the Apple one, but creating such a fuss over something that slightly resembles a logo is exactly why Apple have such an arsehole reputation.

My last post featuring Megan Fox and her superman outfit sent the stats on this blog through the roof! High hopes for these pictures posted on PureAmateur.org. Pictures shot during the filming of her current film, Jennifer’s Body.
Is there too much hype surrounding this young lady? Personally, I haven’t seen any of her movies so cannot at this point comment on her ability to act. Seems to me though that she is being slated for being an attractive woman using her looks to get ahead in Hollywood – I thought that was the game they played in Hollywood – all superficial and fake! Heck, who cares – we clearly all love the eye candy!

Following the news that The Pirate Bay (TPB) went offline after a court ordered its internet service provider Black Internet to pull the plug, the site is now back online with a new carrier. On their site, TPB crew state “The MAFIAA has spent millions of dollars and endless amounts of time to get this ban in order. Our guess is that they also bribed a bit to get it since it violates so many laws not only in Sweden but also in the EU, not to mention violations against human rights. And what do they have to show for it? 3 hours of partial downtime.” LOL! Well played dudes.
As I mentioned yesterday, my sympathies are with Gottfrid Warg and Peter Sunde, founders of TPB – as well as all the other founders of file sharing index sites who are currently fighting prosecution. These are the guys who fight the fight for file sharers around the world, then need to face the music when the law makers get pissed off. I’m sure many other sites will become targets like TPB, but when will the authorities clue in to the fact the internet is unpolicable. You may stop one, but you can’t stop them all.

My buddy who blogs on stuartduff.com posted this story the other day – all about the wonder that is Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri of masterful TV show The Sopranos. Much like Stuart, i’m (still) devistated that the show is over and agree that this is without a doubt the greatest TV show ever created. Slick, intelligent and down right brutal, The Sopranos was a true slice of genius, with the dialogue between the characters being one of its strongest assets. And no one had better lines than Paulie – especially in episodes such as Pine Barrons, one of my personal favourites. Click through to Stuarts blog for a hilarious selection of Paulie moments, and get ready to remember why The Sopranos was so great!
EDIT: Just “acquired” the full six seasons on DIVX – back to back Sopranos for days to come – a woo hoo.

Shocked and angered to hear that Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi is set for an early release on compasionate grounds – due to having terminal prostate cancer. Now, I’m not one for getting on the soapbox on these issues, but this man was responsible for the death of 270 people, including many fellow Scots. I remember this happening like it was yesterday. Since when do we let mass murdering scumbags out of jail just because they are dying. Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi showed no mercy to his victims when he planted his bomb – my feeling is we should return the favour and show this man no mercy as he careers to a painful death – much like his victims. If there is a petition to stop this piece of shit getting out of jail – tell me where and i’ll sign it! Rant over.
